Icey Says

I have been a part of the ' DALnet Family' now since 1997. The First channel I ever went in to was #Speakeasy, and yes I was that annoying 15 year old teenager who thought that you had to be the 'Center of attention' to be able to chat, that teenager who didn't know a thing about Mirc LOL. But the ppl in there, the ppl of DALnet, had the patience and caring to sit and help me learn, sometimes for hours at a time. I am now known as Icey-Queen of typos - hehe. I wouldn't be Icey if I could spell:). A lot of them I still talk to now. Of Course as time went on I ventured to other channels and made more friends.

I like a lot of ppl on the DALnet Network have a lot to thank it for. For a lot of ppl IRC fills a gap that cannot necessarily be filled by you 'RL' friends and family. If you have had a hard day at work, or if u are just feeling down and need cheering up, you can come on here and forget it all and just chat and have fun, or there is always some one to listen, the doors are always open.

I have made some friendships on here that will last a lifetime. I met my best friend on DALnet, who met her Husband here. My IRC 'Mum and Dad' Kittencub and Mayce met each other thru DALnet. I also have numerous penpals thru it. I myself live in England, but have travelled many a time to the USA to visit IRC friends, and also in my own country. I have had some 'unforgettable nights out' LOL.

Ok .. Now i have said this .. On to my 'Little Rant' and a Small Msg to a 'certain' group of ppl who think it is 'Fun and Kool' to try and destroy this with their 'attacks'.

A lot of us have been a part of DALnet for a long time, and you think that you have the right to try and destroy this? You can make our servers split and attack our hub, but u can not destroy and attack what DALnet is really about - Friendship and Family. We are a very stubborn bunch of ppl and we will continue to reconnect after we get disconnected, we will wait out split. We aren't going to leave DALnet. I guess nowadays it's a question of whether DALnet will leave us. Of course a lot of us have, at the moment anyways, opened channels on other networks so we can carry on conversations just in case if do indeed spilt or get disconnected. This doesn't mean that we are not still connected to DALnet and chatting there also. As I said there's a lot of us that have a lot to thank DALnet for, and we aren't going to give up on it yet.

I just want to ask these 'Attackers' Something. How would you like it if you were in your home with your friends and family and some ppl came in and dragged you all in to different areas of the house and broke your conversation and fun up? You wouldn't like it would you?

But as I said before, you can attack DALnet, but you cant attack what it is about - Friends and Family. Anyhow that's my 2 pennies (give or take a few hundred ;P) worth.

See ya all on DALnet :D

Icey.
