Well Wishes II Compiled by Curve
We've had heaps of messages flood in from all over the place, here are a few reprinted with names taken out to protect the innocent:
---
just read your statement here > http://zine.dal.net/situation.php
and it inspired me to drop you an email in a show of support. I want you to
know that I have used Dalnet since 1995 and will continue to do so once it
is back up again. I will always remain loyal to Dalnet, its been there
through all the good, great and even the sometimes bad times and I feel very
deeply 'part of' the whole Dalnet scene.
I feel disgusted that someone somewhere unleased these non stop DDoS attacks
on your servers, I'm sure that even now, they must feel guilty, guilty as
hell.
I hope that you and your team will keep your heads high, keep smiling, keep
realising that the Dalnet users really are out there thinking about you
guys, we are waiting, we are patient, we are considerate and we are going to
wait for as long as it takes. You cannot create something on the internet
and then wake up some morning to find that it is extinct, things evolve.....
I am waiting for Dalnet to come back :-)
Thanks for keeping the spirits up,
---
I know a lot of people are anxious to get back and some/most are just upset right now that they can't connect but I think you all should try and see
that as a compliment somehow. If DALnet wasn't a good place for them to come
on to and chat then they wouldn't be so upset and would just pick the next
one out of the list. Other then that a lot of people do understand as well
and we're keeping our fingers crossed for all of you and are waiting for the
happy ending to this tragedy. :)
---
I don't wish to keep you with a long email but I've been trying to send
some "well wishes" on the DALnet website. Seems I am having problems that
way... so I'm trying the "direct method". Hope you don't mind.
I've been a part of DALnet since February 1996, under the nick Prrkitty. I
hope to not loose nor leave DALnet - EVER!!
Good luck with everything... I hope it all works itself out soon. All of
us are pulling for DALnet and everyone and if there's anything we can do...
don't hesitate to contact us.
---
We the users of dal.net should be thanking the admin and staff for their
hard work that goes on behind the lil chat windows that we see..I know it is
not an easy thing to do being an IRCop, having to deal with rude, impatient
people that don't understand...Not something I have the patience for
myself..
All my friends and family that use dal.net will be back when everything is
back to normal(ok, what really is normal?). and to show our support, we
aren't using IRC or going to any other irc network untill our beloved
dal.net is back.
---
I WANT DALnet FOR GOD SAKE
please help, work hard, do your best, whatever, JUST bring MY DALnet back to me
---
We all know about the horrible attacks that's been going on all over the network.
All I can say, is that it's not DALnet's fault that it's getting attacked.
All those rumors I hear everyday about DALnet closing, etc. It's just plain rumors, don't believe in what you hear. I know that the DALnet staff is working really hard to please their proud users.
All I want to say is thank you to the DALnet staff for opening a new door in my life. I first came to DALnet in 1998. Okay I was a lamer but we're all new at some stage. Thanks to DALnet I've found so many friends, that I also talk with on the phone, I exchange "snailmail" with them, and so on. I could mention a thousand of different things that's good with DALnet, so please, don't blaim DALnet for being under attack. They've done so much for all of us, they don't deserve the bad rumors and a bad persons mouth.
---
While I know there is nothing that I,
personally can do to halt the attacks from these
insufferable souls, I still would like to impart
my support to the network.
DALnet has been the ONLY network on mIRC
that I have flown to for every chat reason I've
had.. be it a need for friendship, support,
humor, or sharing a gleeful moment in life,
everything has been there for me, and I've been
there for everybody else who has had the same
situation.
In a sense, this "cyber-community" has its
own people, and as far as I'm concerned, DALnet
is in the same situation that NYC was in after
9-11-01. Rudi Giulliani dove into the
matter headfirst, and I know all the DALnet
administrators are, because, even had there not
been a multitude of communities at stake, as far
as the administrators are concerned, it's as
though their own personas are being attacked.
In the end of it, I will never, and shall
never abandon the family that I have made on
DALnet. No matter what sort of phreak attempts
to attack it, at least in my mind, we stand as
does the flag.. and these colors never run.
---
Hello a very tough time to DALnet i am very depressed
from DALnet attacks best wishes to DALnet to be run
again and more and more people will be around at
DALnet and it will be .
---
I saw your response on IRCJunkie. I look forward to you folks opening up
again (and hopefully soon).
---
I'm DALnet user since 1997 and it's really a great network. I have a lot of friends. Well, when the network is done I come back immediately...I hope really this situation is done quickly,
Long life to DALnet :-)
---
I'm another one who is simply waiting it out, not smart enough to be of any
help--but still trying dalnet every night for fifteen minutes or so before
going to irc-chat.net.
Their Services conventions really don't mesh with my ircle, though. Please
don't "improve" things too much during the duration! ;^)
I'll be back home, whenever. God be with you all who can do anything.
---
First of all i want to say that i'm a loyal dalnet user, and i will be back just as soon as you guys are up and running again.:) Good luck guys, go get the *******, there are a lot of us out here supporting you
