Hello, I know I cannot do much more than be a continued supporter of your network, but I feel that this is what it takes. The DDOS attacks will stop soon i would hope, and then it will take support from your valued chatters.

I will be there for you through this, and I look forward to coming back to a place on the net I have called home since '97.

Thank you so much, for hosting one of the best places on the net, to get together with others.

You all deserve much more recognition than you ever receive.

---

Just wanted to offer my support and encouragement. Dalnet is by far the best and most respected of the IRC networks. You have been an inspiration for many many years to a whole generation of Internet users. May God bless you in your struggle against the “evil doers” (george bush’s voice) who have attacked your network. Stay Cool, and wish you all the luck in resolving the current dilemmas.

---

I would like to take the opportunity to thank the staff for working on this serious issue. i want to encourage you all to continue with the fight against the peoples who have one goal: to disturb the ones who are happy.

As a former sysop of a big network i had to see how its commercial owner (we all know the name) killed it slowly. i know how hard just the daily work is to keep at least some of the baddies off.

I wish you and us all good luck to bring dalnet back to what it should be: a neat place to meet friendly folks from all over the world.

---

I'm an admin for a server linked to a small network. I've been following your situation for some time now and it's a real shame what these people are doing to you and yours. I really feel sorry for you guys. Building up something this big, and then see it get destroyed by some pissed off kids (most likely). I really hope you will keep trying to keep DalNet up (although i wouldn't mind if *some* of your users slipped to us :)) and that they will get the ones responsible for this.

---

Just wanted to wish you and all the other dalnet users out there the best of luck..I haven't used mirc(dalnet) in well over 6 years....but i have spent A LOT of time on there talking to folks from all over the world...it was and still can be a great place for people to waste a couple of hours...

---

I just wanted to write this to express my appreciation for the admins who work so hard to keep DALnet going, and to wish you the best of luck with finding out who is attacking your servers.

If there is anything I could do to lend a hand, I would be more than happy to help out. I have a bit of experience with computers(hardware, software, some networking).

---

From one server admin to another, yes, it is hoped that you get back up and running soon and that these issues are taken care of. No, the attacks aren't limited to DALnet, but aren't on the huge scale as is apparent has happen to you. Good luck

---

As a faithful user of Dalnet since 1995, I would like to express my concern and support for DalNet's support staff and hosts during this most distasteful time. Please don't give up, you are appreciated :) :) :)

---

DALnet was the first and only IRC network I really enjoyed. Very well done and organized.

I will be waiting for the new rebirth as long as it's needed. Keeping my fingers crossed!!!
Good luck!!!

---

it really is a shame that these attacks had to occur it not only affects you but it also affects the users of dalnet. Like me and a few others i know. they are pissed that the ppl responsible for the attacks cant come right out and admit they are scared and too weak to confront their problems with the net on their own. they have to ruin everyones fun. its BS and i hope you all bounce back and have better security then b4.also i hope these ppl are caught and are prosecuted to the furthest extent of the law.

---

Hello, I'm Joe from Indonesia, and I just wanna say never give up for you guys, DalNet administrators/operators, out there in this troubled time. I have been using your service since the first time I chatted, back in the 1998, and let me tell you, I never have the urge to try using another networks =)

I wish DalNet well in the future and I can't wait to use your service again

---

Hi :) having been a long time user of dalnet I would just like to say how disgusted I am with those who are doing this to you and your system. I sincerely hope you do find the culprits and prosicute them with the full force of the law. I myself have not tried to use any other Irc servers and hope you will in the near future be able to resolve this situation. I am sure you have much smarter people working on this than me. But could you not shut the whole system down and then reboot it and run a full invasive anti virus program to destroy the netbots?? its probably a silly idea lol. I do wish you all well and look forward to you being back as the best chat network in the world.

---

i have been a dalnetizen since 1999, that means 4 years ago and from that time, i was never see dalnet have a big problem such as this. i just really hope that dalnet will be recovered soon as i love dalnet so much.

---

I know that DAL-net is suffering from many dDOS attack. I just want to say that I'm very sad that DAL-net is currently not working now, cause I usually chat at DAL-net, and its the best for me.

Well, btw, I hope that U can survive and rebuild it to its normal state, and even better than before. I'm supporting you.

---

I am one of those iRC users that bounces back and forth from dal to undernet... haven't been on IRC for awhile but was SHOCKED to hear that you're under the gun from a bunch of thugs with nothing better to do than destroy something they can't have.

As you've said, DDoS attacks affect a lot more than the target service/network. The network traffic alone will bleed over to affect game servers, mail, newsfeeds, web surfing, you name it. And because traditionally IRC has been run on donated equipment and administered by volunteers, at some point people start asking "Do we really want to do this? Do we need this kind of abuse?" All because some script-kiddie decided to rustle up his own clone army and then didn't know what to do with it. At some point playing with toy soldiers gets boring, if only because you run out of things to attack, and are left with not much more than a smoking battlefield with nothing useful left standing. Most folks who do battle for a living understand this concept as 'scorched earth' and they don't much like it.

Anyway, kudos to you people for hanging in and trying to make things better. As an Undernet denizen, I can honestly say that the Undernet will be happy to host any channels/users in the interim, and wish you all the best.

First of all I would like to express my deepest thanks to those who help make DAL possible, the staff. I know this has been said many times, but seriously these are the people who bring others together in the long run, and make it possible. It's sickening to imagine a group out there whose sole purpose is to destroy one of the happiest social playgrounds of its kind, and all that you can think of saying is "What's the point?" The understanding of 'why' seems to be the most confusing question I've thought about to this day. Out of all possible, *they* choose one of the most enjoyed, organized, and entertaining nets of them all. almost taking it like a jealousy fix. I've been with DAL for almost 5 years now, starting back early of July 98', I've seen DAL grow, and only has it done just that.

I was there to witness the huge expansion for DALnet, and now it's just utterly depressing to see DAL way below its original standards. When you think of the attacks, not a minute goes by without just wanting to know who the attackers are, why they're doing it, and what are they going to accomplish? I hope soon enough these criminals are caught and put to justice. It's somewhat encouraging to think of these "attacks" just like one that devastates, but in the end recovers from it with brilliant force. And if DAL keeps fighting back the way it is, I can't help to imagine just that, prompt recovery. I think the best thing DALnet can do is keep up the support, things will surely pull through. Best wishes to all that remain true to DALnet, I know I will be there until the end!

Hello, Just wanted too say that i have enjoyed dal.net for many years and i wish and hope that the ppl that is doing this are stopped , and are not allowed too do this too dalnet or any irc network again, If there is ever anything we here at ISJX.com can doo too help let us know , and Thanks for all the yrs of service and hope too be back on soon . I have read the web page about the DDOS attacks. Sorry this is happening, and I hope it will stop soon. I miss Dalnet! Take care and best wishes to you and all the Dalnet crew.

---

You are the most populer irc server in the world, That's why I beleave you will survive. I missing chat in Dalnet.

---

I have read the information posted on the DALNet website, and I feel for everyone involved! It’s truly a great misfortune that these kinds of attacks occur on non-profit organisations. I hope you catch the people behind this ghastly attack!

---

I just wanted to voice my support for Dalnet. In no way I want the ones who do this win. So I will continue to try on dalnet, and I hope that all who used to come there are coming back, because dalnet was and is a great network, where I have been coming ever since it started :)

---

I just saw your letter/message on the 'net about the Dalnet attacks.. I've been searching furiously (well, in a matter of speaking) on why my computer wouldn't log into Dal anymore.. I guess I found the solution.

Well, this is just a way of expressing my support to you in recovering from the hacker attacks on the servers. It was such a relief when I logged back on this morning on a working server!! And I thought my computer had messed up real bad..

Anyway, keep up the good work, and good luck
