Useful Resources By Curve
Lastly, a list of resources which will help you to stay safe on IRC, and keep your computer protected.:
Anti-virus, Anti-trojan & Security Checks
- ShieldsUp Online Security check is a quick and easy online test of your computer's security
- Norton virus scan & security check is a free online scan for viruses and general security
- Swat It is a free trojan scanner that often picks up what anti-virus software misses
- Housecall is another great free online scan for malicious files
- NetBIOS Share Probe will test to see if your computer is open for file sharing
- DALnet ActiveX Test will see if your Internet Explorer is vulnerable to ActiveX exploits
- McAfee is one of the leaders in the world of anti-virus programs
- PC-cillin is a well respected anti-virus program
- The Cleaner is yet another free trojan scanner, though not as up-to-date as it could be
Remember: No one single anti-virus or trojan scanner is the final solution. Trojans and viruses change so fast that you are always wise to check your computer's integrity with a few of the above. Also, your anti-virus program is only as good as the last update - so set to autoupdate, or update once a week!
Windows Updates
- Windows Update will let you download all the latest security updates for Windows
Useful Websites
- nohack.net has a lot of useful trojan and virus information and you can also join #nohack for help on DALnet if you have a problem
- DALnet Exploits is the website of the DALnet Exploits Team and contains a lot of useful information on security.
- Lockdown Corp has a great article on bots, drones and zombies for those who want to go beyond the very basic explanation
- #Aide is a DALnet channel and website for French-speaking users who require help and information about the network and its services.
