DALnet in Bangkok
by Apol0o

When I first came to Bangkok a couple of years back I was wondering if DALnet was popular here. The first Internet cafe I went to did not allow CHAT! (quite a business policy for a cafe). The next one had the ISP k-lined by DALnet for good. I gave up when the third one had so much virii all around that I couldn't see beyond the a-kill messages displayed in green.

Two years on in present day Bangkok, I can see many Internet cafes advertising about chatting in DALnet. Even though the DDoS attacks did pose a setback to many eager DAL-users in Bangkok, the popularity of the network is growing every day.

What is more important is that DALnet is making people become computer literate. Users who used to come for just chatting and hanging out, are now learning about open-proxies, DDoS and several other related matters. At least many indifferent users are getting some anti-virus softwares installed. The urge is to chat and to chat in DALnet.

DALnet connects the world in one string from Bangkok to Bombay to Birmingham. A futuristic flight par excellence.
