The Matrix
by Mentality

For those of you who have got a little too wrapped up in this outstanding movie:

Myth: The year is unknown. Machines have taken over the world, and are using humans as batteries to power themselves, whilst they are plugged into a computerised world known as 'The Matrix.'

Reality: The year is 2003. The sequel to one of the biggest smash hit movies of all time, The Matrix, has been released, and taken movie-goers to a new dimension.

Yes, The Matrix: Reloaded was released recently - it has filled movie theatres across the globe, and put all other contending movies on the back row.

The Matrix, released in 1999, used the most state-of-the-art special effects to create scenes never seen before. 360° camera views, twined with slow motion bullets and amazing 'bullet time photography' secured The Matrix as one of the all time greats. The Matrix's Box Office Gross (US) ended up as $171.4 million!

Does its sequel, The Matrix: Reloaded, live up to expectations? Yes, yes, yes..and YES!

This time around is just as pleasing as the last. A seemingly never ending supply of special effects, stunts and amazing photography provides several hours of eye candy. The movie also provides a good plot and the introduction of some new characters. You also get to see inside 'Zion' - the last human city, which was only mentioned in the last film (We never actually got to see it.) The directors, special effects artists, stunt men and actors have truly surpassed themselves by creating an entire world from computers.

The only down side I can find in the film is that, on occasions, the acting is a little stiff - however, on the whole, is good.

With all the old characters (except the ones that died in the last one!) and new 'baddies' you can expect new dangers, new plots and new threats to the human race. Can Neo save us?

Because The Matrix: Reloaded finishes with a cliff hanger, you will have to wait until November, when the third film, The Matrix: Revolutions is released to find out! (Don't you just hate that?)

However, I would strongly recommend digging deep into your pockets and going to see this film if you haven't already, even if you didn't particuarly like The Matrix. Absolutely amazing.

I give The Matrix: Reloaded a 10 out of 10.

Plot: 10
Characters: 10
Acting: 9
Special Effects: 10
Combat Scenes: 10
Stunts: 10
Overall: 10
