Hello everybody!

What has happened over time?

For one thing DALnet is still there, up and running. So many people had no confidence in that but see, we are still here :-) Many "hardcore"-chatters did never even think of giving up on joining DALnet. There were times when it was very hard to get connected or even impossible without some "insider" info about servers, ports etc. There were flames, blames targeted at DALnet administration for all kind of reasons. However, we are here, we can meet old friends and make new ones. All that FOR FREE, thanks to the management of DALnet, who did not give up but rather put much effort into all this to make it run even under the hardest of circumstances.

The internet has become a very violent space, innocent beginners who do not know what to click on and what not are easy targets of criminals who abuse the technology in order to make money. There is a big need for education with these matters and also for prevention of such abuse. People who have experienced the grow of networking over the last 20 years do feel sad seeing it being abused like it is right now. People like that are thinking of ways to secure it and WILL succeed.

I would like to send out greetings to all chatters and to the admins who make the chat possible. DALnet is a kind of virtual home for me for years and it will be in the future, I dont care about user counts, statistics, numbers ...it is about quality, not quantity.

A big "thanks" to DALnet for hanging in there.
